Vanadium has a high melting point and is often called refractory metal together with niobium, tantalum, tungsten and molybdenum. It is ductile, hard and non-magnetic. It has the ability of resisting hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, and its resistance to air, salt and water corrosion is better than most stainless steels. The metal vanadium in compact state at room temperature is relatively stable, does not react with air, water and alkali, and can also resist dilute acid. Vanadium is a silver gray metal.
