GH5188 is a solid solution strengthened cobalt based superalloy. The addition of 14% tungsten solid solution strengthened makes the alloy have excellent high temperature thermal strength. The addition of high chromium content and trace lanthanum makes the alloy have good high temperature oxidation resistance, and has satisfactory forming, welding and other technological properties.

The alloy has good resistance to organic acid corrosion, but limited corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid and medium, in addition to the possibility of point corrosion in halides, has good corrosion resistance in oxidizing and non-oxidizing salts, and also has good corrosion resistance in water, vapor and mixtures of steam, air and carbon dioxide.
